The global COVID-19 pandemic poses unfavourable circumstances for everyone including SEARCCT. The pandemic has hampered many of SEARCCT’s physical programmes and activities which may affect capacity building in the fight against terrorism. In this regard, SEARCCT has taken the initiative to adapt to the new norm by developing a series of webinar, allowing participants to attend remotely.
SEARCCT’s Planning and Training Division, in collaboration with Research & Publication Division and Strategic Communication Division have successfully organised five webinars. The panellists consist of speakers from Australia, Singapore, and United Nation Office of Counter-Terrorism. The five webinars are as follows:
i. “Outlook Of Terrorism during and Post COVID-19: What Are We Expecting?” – July 1, 2020.
ii. “Counter-Terrorism in the New Normal: Need For A New Strategy?” – July 8, 2020.
iii. “Managing Hate Speech” – July 15, 2020.
iv. “PCVE in the New Normal” – July 29, 2020.
v. “Dark Web and Osint: Structured Methodologies For Counter-Terrorism Investigations” – August 5, 2020.
The webinars were well received with overall participation of 198 participants.
