Seminar On Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) During Malaysia’s Movement Control Order (MCO)

SEARCCT successfully conducted a seminar entitled “CIP During Malaysia’s Movement Control Order (MCO)” at Hotel Le Meridien, Kuala Lumpur on 18 August 2020. The half-day seminar was officiated by Dato’ Chuah Teong Ban, Director-General of SEARCCT and Ambassador Khairi Omar, Deputy Director-General I moderated the seminar.

The topic of the presentations are as follows:

  1. Challenges in Ensuring Safety of CIP During the Covid-19 Pandemic by YDH DCP (R) Dato’ A. Paramasivam, General Manager of Security, Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB).
  2. Malaysia’s Resilience by Prof. Dr. Ruhanas Binti Harun, National Defence University of Malaysia (NDUM).
  3. Operations of Critical Infrastructure – Best Practices by Capt. (R) Rusli bin Abd Rahman, Former Deputy Director-General of Chief Government Security Office (CGSO).

The participants were from local agencies and private sector, namely the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA), Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia, Malaysia Institute for Defence and Security (MiDAS), Chief Government Security Office (CGSO), CyberSecurity Malaysia, National Water Services Commission (SPAN), Malaysian Nuclear Agency, Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad (MAHB), Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Prasarana Malaysia, and Malaysian Resources Cooperation Berhad (MRCB).

The purpose of this seminar was to share experiences and understanding of the importance of the Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP). Besides, the seminar has also provided an overview of the challenges faced and responsibilities shouldered by front liners and utility services personnel in the country’s CIP during the Covid-19 pandemic. The seminar also discussed the best practices that are in line with the current situation.
