CBRNE First Responder Training Programme (Basic)
25 – 27 February 2020
Ibis Style Hotel, Kuala Lumpur
SEARCCT hosted the “Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) First Responder Training Programme Basic” at Ibis Style Hotel Kuala Lumpur from 25 to 27 February 2020. The workshop was attended by 26 local participants; including officers from Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), Malaysia Civil Defence Force, the Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (SMART) and several other enforcement agencies in the peninsular region. The 3-day programme was officiated by Deputy Director-General I of SEARCCT, Ambassador Khairi Omar.
The programme aimed to equip participants with knowledge and understanding of terrorists’ utilisation of CBRNE agents and prepare first responders’ response to CBRNE threats and incidents. In ensuring an impactful training, SEARCCT has engaged with its established local trainers from the Royal Malaysia Police, Ministry of Health, Malaysia Armed Forces, Chemistry Department and Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB). Participants were taught on various basic CBRNE subjects that provided them with valuable insights and familiarisation with CBRNE equipment such as the use of Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) and tools to detect CBRNE agents.
This two-fold module format also enabled participants to have a substantial amount of hands-on experience which added value to the theoretical lectures scheduled. This was coupled with demonstration exercises of decontamination and the use PPE at Balai Bomba Jalan Hang Tuah, Kuala Lumpur.
