On August 19, 2024, Puan Noraishah Mokhtar, a postgraduate student from University
College London (UCL), conducted a sharing session with SEARCCT, where she presented
her latest findings from her research titled “Malaysia’s Counter-Narrative Strategies in
Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism.” The session was moderated by En.
Kennimrod Sariburaja, Director of the Research and Publications Division at SEARCCT.
Puan Noraishah provided an in-depth analysis of the role and effectiveness of counter-
narratives in preventing and countering violent extremism (PCVE) in Malaysia. The session
facilitated a dynamic exchange of insights among participants, including SEARCCT officers,
an academician, and representatives from a UN agency and a think tank. Participants
actively discussed the challenges and opportunities in developing and implementing counter-
narratives for PCVE.
