Discussion and Dialogue with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) Campaigns

In a bid to strengthen further the “Whole of Society” approach in counter-terrorism, SEARCCT and Pertubuhan IKRAM Malaysia held a one-day program entitled “Discussion and Dialogue with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism, (PCVE) Campaigns on 27 November 2019. Thirty-four participants representing 27 local CSOs attended the programme. Experts from the International Islamic University of Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Pertubuhan IKRAM Malaysia and SEARCCT were invited to speak in this program.

            The main discussion centered around terrorist recruitment strategy, terrorism and social media, women and terrorism as well as organising effective online and offline campaigns. The programme provided an avenue for SEARCCT to know more about CSOs and their excellent CVE activities. It also paved the way for further collaboration in the future.

            The programme concluded with a group discussion, and the participants gave 10 recommendations on enhancing the existing synergy of government and CSOs in PCVE activities.
