The webinar on Terrorist Financing – Responding to the Changing Terrorism Financing Threat Environment was co-organised with Australian Government, Department of Home Affairs and Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC).
The online forum was attended by 37 participants from various agencies. The main objective of the webinar was to improve understanding of Financial Intelligence and its coordinated use to disrupt money laundering, terrorism financing and other serious crime.
The speaker was Mr. Tom Blissenden, Senior Liaison Officer Southeast Asia Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC), Australian High Commission Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Throughout the programme, participants were exposed to the role of Financial Intelligence Unit, current terrorism threat during Covid-19 and view of terrorism financing in Southeast Asia region. Participants were then made aware of the differences between money laundering and terrorism financing, along with the various terrorism financing typologies that were discussed through several scenario and case studies in Malaysia also abroad.
