On 31 January 2025, the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT) had the privilege of delivering a lecture to the first batch of National Service Training Programme (PLKN) 3.0 participants at 515 Rejimen Askar Wataniah, Kem Kementah, Kuala Lumpur. The session was conducted by Mr. Kennimrod Sariburaja, Director of the Research and Publications Division at SEARCCT, and attended by 116 trainees. The lecture provided an introduction to terrorism and counter-terrorism in Malaysia, with a strong emphasis on the role of youth in maintaining peace and security within the country.
Designed to equip trainees with a fundamental understanding of terrorism and violent extremism, the session explored the historical context, root causes, and socio-political impacts of extremist ideologies. By fostering critical thinking and awareness, the lecture aimed to empower participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify, resist, and counter radical narratives. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, encouraging trainees to actively engage in discussions and reflect on their role in safeguarding national stability.
