Just concluded an impactful segment of the Leveraging Educators Against Radical Narratives (LEARN) project: the Content Creation Workshop (CCW) for Edufluencers. This crucial initiative, jointly organized by SEARCCT, UNDP Malaysia, and the Ministry of Education Malaysia, brought together dedicated educators to equip them with vital skills in countering radical narratives online.
Over two intensive days, participants engaged in key activities designed to foster understanding and action. Day one involved a deep dive into the Malaysian landscape of violent extremism, led by experts from the Counter-Terrorism Unit, Special Branch, Royal Malaysia Police, and SEARCCT. This foundational knowledge paved the way for day two’s focus on practical application, where Edufluencers learned to identify hate speech and terrorist narratives, and collaboratively crafted counter-narratives. A significant portion of the workshop was dedicated to harnessing the power of social media for positive change, culminating in the development of impactful social media campaign strategies under the theme “Our Common Truth.”
This workshop underscores the importance of empowering educators as key agents in preventing and countering violent extremism through effective content creation. The LEARN project continues to be a vital platform for fostering collaboration and building resilience within our communities.
