On June 19, 2024, SEARCCT, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), organised SEARCCT’s University Lecture Series (ULS). The lecture, titled “Perundangan dan Pencegahan Keganasan,” featured distinguished speakers including DCP Puan Normah Ishak, Principal Assistant Director of the Special Branch (E8), the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP); Prof. Dr. Salawati Mat Basir, Law Advisor at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM); and Mr. Kennimrod Sariburaja, Director of Research and Publication at SEARCCT.
The objective of the presentation was to raise awareness about the legal actions required against terrorist groups and the current trends in terrorist activities within Malaysia. This interactive session allowed students to engage directly with the experts through a dynamic Q&A segment, fostering a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in countering terrorism from a legal standpoint. The event saw the participation of approximately 100 students, reflecting the growing interest and commitment of the youth in contributing to the nation’s counter-terrorism efforts.
