SEARCCT and the CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM), successfully co-hosted the “Cyber Investigation in Terrorism Cases: Introductory Level” at Cybersecurity Malaysia, Seri Kembangan, Selangor at 26 – 27 Feb 2019. It was the first programme for SEARCCT in 2019. The workshop was attended by 36 participants, consisting of staff and officers from Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Attorney-General’s Chambers of Malaysia (AGC) and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
Deputy Director-General I of SEARCCT, Amb. Khairi bin Omar, officiated the 2-day programme. With the aim to provide exposure and understanding of cyber threats that could threaten the security of critical sectors in the country to the officers and staff working in the sector, SEARCCT’s local trainers were engaged from the Royal Malaysia Police, Attorney-General’s Chambers of Malaysia and CyberSecurity Malaysia.
The workshop briefed participants on various investigation technique and procedure in cyber world. Participants were separated into four groups and were given different task for each group. This exercise will prepare participants to communicate with various departments and provide a platform for knowledge sharing. It also helped to highlight the need for a holistic response mechanism, in the event of a possible incident.
All the participants expressed their appreciation for the speakers who were knowledgeable and interesting in their presentations on technical topics. Overall, the workshop was a success with the participants looking forward to learn more of cyber security and are expecting similar workshops organised by SEARCCT.
