The Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT) successfully organised the “MTCP-SEARCCT Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNe) – Terrorism 101 Programme” from 4 to 12 June 2024. This programme, held under the auspices of the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP), has been facilitated by SEARCCT since 2012. The programme saw the participation of 16 individuals, including three from Indonesia, two from the Philippines, and one each from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bhutan, Croatia, Ghana, Jordan, Kenya, Maldives, Mongolia, Morocco, Nigeria, and Thailand.
The program featured speakers from various esteemed organisations including the Royal Malaysia Police, the Malaysian Armed Forces, the Fire and Rescue Department, Selayang Hospital, the Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB), the Department of Chemistry, MAHSA University, and KPJ Healthcare University.
Participants engaged in sessions covering a wide range of topics, including explosives, biological, radiological, and chemical agents, as well as personal protective equipment, decontamination procedures, and emergency medical response. Interactive discussions, quizzes, and tabletop exercises ensured dynamic learning and practical application of knowledge. The programme also included country presentations, highlighting national CBRNe preparedness and response strategies, fostering an exchange of ideas and best practices among international representatives.
